For the first time in three years, Trinidad is hosting the 'Festival of India' trade fair at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, which started on February 14 and will carry on till the 24th of this month.
More than 75 merchants from various states of India have participated in the event to display a variety of handicraft, household and decorative items, sports wear, accessories, crystals, curtains, ready-to-wear garments, and bed sheets with matching covers.
The fair is being organized by an Indian entrepreneur, Vijay Ramlal who believes that the expo this time has chosen some of the most dynamic of the domestic merchants to expand its export market.
Furthermore, a good number of new items have been introduced in the fair this time giving Trinidadians the opportunity to head for a full fledged shopping spree. The two most popular items given the most amount of emphasis are clothing and jewelry.
The fair is expected to promote healthy trade relations and a positive social and cultural exchange between the two countries.
