According to the latest customs statistics, China's textile and apparel exports to the EU in 2007 achieved US $28.206 billion, down 1.66 percent from 2006. Of this, textile exports amounted to $7.015 billion, up 21.69 percent, 2.1 percentage points higher than previous year. Clothing marked $21.19 billion, gaining by 22.37 percent, 7.54 percentage points lower than the growth of year earlier.
Of the sub-categories of apparel and garment, woven garment exports amounted to $11.277 billion, up 6.08 percent, accounting for about 39.98 percent of China's total exports to the EU, ranking as the largest category.
Knitted apparel exports came next, by registering $6.716 billion, a year-on-year decline of 28.42 percent, accounting for about 23.81 percent of the total exports.
Manufactured goods exports reached $3.547 billion, augmenting 18.87 percent, forming a share of 12.58 percent. Fabric scored $2.498 billion, up 20.06 percent, accounting for 8.86 percent of total exports.
The country generated $1.838 billion from the exports of clothing accessories, rendering an increase of 13.66 percent, accounting for 6.52 percent. Yarn completed $971 million; swell by 38.51 percent, grabbing a share of 3.44 percent of total exports.
Exports of headwear, hair leather garments and other apparel together garnered $556 million, $448 million, $354 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 12.95 percent, a drop of 6.71 percent, an increase of 2.76 percent, respectively, and each making a proportion of about 1.5 percent.
