Indian jute products have always fascinated foreign buyers. There is a huge demand of the golden fibre items in European market. To cater this requirement, a one-day Awareness Workshop-cum Display on jute diversified products held in Madurai recently.
The seminar was conducted to create awareness among Self Help Groups (SHG) about latest trends in global market and jute artefacts can be improvised with innovative designs and patterns. It will also provide them an opportunity to participate in exhibitions which are organised only for European market.
According to experts, Self Help Groups (SHG) can make huge profits by exporting various jute products like shopping bags, files, rugs and home décor items to foreign buyers. India and Bangladesh are the only two countries which produce jute, so opportunities are tremendous for the manufacturers.
Even Jute Board is making all possible efforts, like providing concessions for marketing the product and offering stalls for free to the craftsmen at expos.
