Embroidery is one of the traditional Chinese craft which brings out delicate colourful patterns on the fabric. In present time also the women of Suzhoe city continue to bring out vibrant and amazing designs on a simple piece of cloth.
Since last one year, nine women of this city were engaged in crafting a masterpiece called 'A picture of bathing imperial concubine in Huaqing Hotspring', which got completed on March 13.
For finishing the embroidery work on 3.6 meter long and 1.4 meter wide piece of cloth almost 4 million meters of silk thread was consumed. The end result is surely awe inspiring and is gathering great reviews.
Chinese silk embroidery which originated in the Jiangsu Province's Suzhoe city, is also known as 'silk painting', 'needle painting' or 'thread painting' because of the fine detailing which is done without using paints.
At times craftsmen take more than a year to complete single piece of artwork as it has delicate patterns that require lot of attention.
