PSF exports ameliorates in March

Recently Customs released export and import data for the month of March, where in statistics were available for the Polyester staple fibre as well.
PSF exports in the month, amounted to US $49.37 million, rising by 40.51 percent from the previous month, and 17.64 percent from the same time last year. The average export price declined near about $11 to reach $1,245 per ton, demonstrating a fall of 0.89 percent from last month, however a surge of 13.53 percent is observed from the corresponding period prior year.
In the first quarter of 2008, country's total exports of PSF reached 109,675 tons, soaring by 28.98 percent from the same time last year, fetching $136.37 million in total. This represented a growth of 45.81 percent with average export price quoted at $1,245 per ton, registering an ascend of 13.11 percent year-on-year.
On the other hand, imports of polyester staple fiber reached 14,129 tons in March 2008, representing a rise of 3,999 tons showing a growth of 39.48 percent from previous month. However a decrease of 29.62 percent has been registered from the same period last year.
The country expended $21.64 million for importing PSF in March to meet the domestic demand, which is up 40.57 percent from the previous month, but down 18.74 percent from the same time last year.
Average import price was quoted at $1,531 per ton, which rose by $11 or 0.78 percent from February, gaining as high as 15.45 percent from the same period last year.
In the period from January to March, the country purchased 36,239 tons of polyester staple fiber. The figures depicted a plunge of 34.58 percent than the same period last year; total import value amounted to $54.89 million, down 26.26 percent from the same time last year. Average import price stood at $1,514 per ton, up 12.73 percent from the same period last year.
