According to the latest reports provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's production of naphtha in the first quarter 2008 registered 2.178 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 133.2 percent.
Naphtha output, in the month of March marked 726,000 tons, up 16.16 percent from the previous month.
In this period, the rate of naphtha production represented a growth of 1.39 percent year-on-year; while, gasoline output rate saw a plunge of 0.1 percent from the similar period previous year. This incidence reflects that refineries have increased naphtha output through suppression of gasoline production.
On the other hand, from January to March this year, ethylene production grew 5.5 percent or 146,000 tons over the same time last year, because as one of the raw materials of ethylene, naphtha production was stimulated.
In addition, according to market analysts, March had two more working days compared to February, which is another reason for the rise in production of naphtha over the prior month.
