Exports of Polyester Tire Cord slides in March

According to Customs Statistics, the export volume of Polyester Tire Cord in March 2008, decline to 2,418 tons, reducing almost 198 tons or 0.81 percent when compared to February, however, experiencing a year-on-year increase of 71.82 percent.

The export price averaged nearly US $3,300 per ton, up by $232 or 7.57 percent from previous month, witnessing a decrease of 3.98 percent from the same time last year.

From January to March 2008, total exports of Polyester Tire Cord reached nearly 7,415 tons, representing a growth of 99.76 percent over the same period of 2007, the average export price stood at $3,177 per ton, a year-on-year reduction of 5.72 percent.

On the other hand, in March, imports of Polyester Tire Cord came around 981 tons, a rise of 337 tons from the previous month, but a drop of 14.42 percent from the same period last year. The import price averaged around $3,993 per ton, down by 2.61 percent from the previous month, although showcasing a slight increase of 4.19 percent from the same time last year.

In the first quarter of 2008, China imported polyester Tire Cord worth 2,888 tons, a year-on-year growth of 17.45 percent, the average import price was at approximately $4,031 per ton, representing a hike of 6.59 percent from previous year.
