EU inspection on apparel exporting enterprises arouses concern

This year, the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Shishi City received eight enquiries from the foreign customs regarding the certificates of origin for clothes exported.

The foreign customs largely belonged to EU countries like Italy, Poland, Greece and Czech Republic among others and made enquiries about the general and GSP certificate of origin of the garment products.

Expert analysis have shown that before withdrawing the quota limitations, EU has strengthened its supervision on the textile and clothes exports of Shishi City.

By means of the certificate of origin, EU can avail more data information about the apparel exports, making it easier to impose new trade tariff barriers.

Moreover, trading behavior of some of the local enterprises are also arousing suspicion and thus are scrutinized for authenticity and validity of the certificate of origin.

Local Government and enterprises engaged in exporting apparels to EU countries, have expressed worries over these investigations and fingers are crossed till speculation over fraudulent exports are proved wrong.
