Day 3 Inspection and sampling: The Hohenstein inspection team consists of specially trained textile engineers and technicians, who monitor ongoing production for compliance with the AQL standard (Acceptable Quality Level) and Hohenstein's own test criteria. They take samples, in accordance with the production volume that has already been manufactured and AQL requirements, from current production and in some cases from the warehouse for finished goods.
While still at the works, the inspectors compare the articles with accepted prototype products with regard to processing, colour matching, weight of material and dimensions. On production batches that are ready for shipping, the packing units, sorting and barcodes are also inspected.
“We discuss the results of the processing inspection and the comparison with prototype products with the manufacturers while we are still at the works. This means that further errors can be prevented by making immediate changes to the manufacturing process.” Rachel Huang Head of the Hohenstein Liaison Office in Shanghai/China.
All the data and evaluations are entered into the electronic test record using a Tablet Notebook. The inspection report is written on the spot, discussed with the manufacturer and at the same time sent to the customer and to colleagues at the Hohenstein Institutes in Germany.
The aim is to improve production immediately and avoid further processing flaws. The producer of the children's sleep-suits also benefits from the specialist textile expertise and decades of experience of the Hohenstein Institutes: the inspectors point out loop damage on the sleep-suits and help him to instruct the production managers accordingly.
