Shaw Industries Group, Georgia based carpet manufacturer and floor covering supplier, has contracted a partnership with the US Department of Energy (DOE), becoming a founding reporter of the Climate Registry. Besides, as part of its affiliation with the organization, the company has also taken up a resolution to cut its energy consumption by 25 percent over a period of 10 years.
This partnership will not only allow the Group to avail itself of DOE resources but also give it an opportunity to collaborate with other companies in the region to organize energy reduction programs.
Shaw Industries also has plans to lay off nine workers at its Plant 67 in Lafayette, as was informed by Pam Dyer, Executive Assistant of Shaw Industries.
Ms Pam dyer also confirmed to Fibre2fashion that this move was being made with the aim to streamline its workforce as there was an increase in the amount of pre-dyed and space-dyed nylon production innovations at the plant.
However, the company has assured to reposition the affected employees at its other facilities.
