Domestic goose down products to create a niche market

Maolong Wuzhong Down Products Co Ltd, a leading manufacturer of down products in China has set up a 1.44 million mus of farm to breed 20 million gooses in Horqin Grassland.
As a conventional method people in China earlier plucked these fine fibres from dead gooses, however, Maolong company has found out that down could be gathered from a particular kind of local gooses even when they are alive.
In fact, the quality of these fibre obtained from live geese is better compared to those from dead ones. The company therefore decided to breed this kind of geese in order to give to its customer the best quality down products and ensuring a brand name for itself in this field.
The first foreign-goose breeding project of China was initiated by Menge Goose Co Ltd in 2005 and financed by the Chinese and Hungarian Government as well as by Maolong Wuzhong Down Product Co Ltd.
This project has helped Maolong to increase its down product exports by over 20 percent in the first four months compared to the same period last year. China Agricultural Department has opined that if the business in down products continues to accelerate, the country is bound to become a world capital for such goods.
