Clariant Chemicals receives Two DMAI awards

Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited has been honoured by the Dyestuff's Manufacturers' Association of India (DMAI) for
• Excellent Performance in Pollution Control by a Large Scale Unit for 2007-2008, &
• Excellent Performance in Safety and Hazards Control by a Large Scale Unit for 2007-2008.

The awards were received by the senior-most ESHA employees from the company – Mr. Vasant Ghorpade and Mr. Subhash Joshi at the hands of the Chief Guest Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Hon'ble Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers & Steel, Government of India at an award function on June 20, 2008 at Hotel Sea Princess, Mumbai.

Clariant's mandatory principles on environment, safety, and health (ESH) are laid down in the Clariant Group's ESH rules. In addition to compliance with national laws and regulations, the goals of the Business Charter for Sustainable Development of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Responsible Care initiative of the chemical industry serve as guiding principles.” explained Mr. Yegna Mani, Head of ESHA, Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited.

The Citation for the awards read as under:
• Citation for Excellent Performance in Pollution Control
“Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd., an ISO 9001:2000, 14001: 2004 and 18001: 2007 certified company, is the manufacturer of Pigment Dyestuffs and their dispersion, Intermediates for Dyes, Pesticide and Pharmaceuticals. The company originally established in 1956, along with other Clariant affiliates in India merged (April 2006) into the now rechristened company known as Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited.

Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited has Waste Water Treatment Plants facilities at their sites at Kolshet, Roha, Balkum, Kanchipuram and Cuddalore which have been commissioned due to their in-house development as per norms of respective State Pollution Control Boards, keeping cleanliness and safety as an important criteria. It has indigenously developed Fluidized Bed Incinerator for Disposal of Hazards Solid & Liquid Waste and is strictly adhering to Pollution Control Norms. Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited also has proper monitoring mechanisms for Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) at sites. It imparts regular training to concerned personnel for continuous improvement.

In recognition of the above measures adopted by Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited, DMAI is pleased to confer the Award for Pollution Control for the year 2007-2008”
