DuPont has been awarded a 2008 R&D 100 Award for DuPont Rynaxypyr, an advanced insect control product that optimizes a grower's potential to produce high-quality, high-yielding crops.

Rynaxypyr was one of 100 new products chosen by Research & Development magazine as the most innovative products introduced in 2008.

"We're honored to receive this prestigious external acknowledgement of DuPont innovation," said James C. Collins, vice president and general manager, DuPont Crop Protection.

"Our Rynaxypyr insect control products are just one way DuPont is advancing agriculture through a rich pipeline of products that will help our customers improve profitability and productivity and into the future."

Rynaxypyr is the active ingredient in DuPont Altacor, Coragen, Ferterra and Prevathon, four insect control products that have received registration in 10 countries to date.

These new products, powered by DuPont Rynaxypyr, offer growers fast-acting and long-lasting control of a wide range of pests that do costly damage to crops.

In the 45-year history of the R&D Awards, DuPont products have been honored nearly 50 times, including a 1991 award for DuPont Accent corn herbicide.

Other notable awards for the DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition businesses include two products for the food processing industry: the DuPont BAX system for detecting pathogens or other organisms in food and environmental samples; and the DuPont RiboPrinter microbial characterization system.

The R&D 100 Awards Gala will take place Oct. 16, in Chicago. Other 2008 innovations receiving the award range from a handheld biodiesel analyzer and spectrometers to an adaptive airbag and superhydrophobic coating.
