The textile and apparel export to Japan market has maintained a low growth rate so far, this year, accomplishing US $422 million, and recording an increase of 13.6 percent in first 7 months.
Elastic shirt marked highest export turnover at around $200 million in July, representing a rise of 3.29 percent over June and 50 percent over the same period last year.
Jacket stood second during the months at $174 million, registering a growth of 31 percent over same period last year and 14 percent against June 2008.
Trouser came in next. It earned $169 million, indicating a boost of 7.43 percent over June 26.84 as against same period last year.
The export turnover of coat for Japan during the month reached $79.4 million, with a surge of 60.95 percent over June and 47.7 percent against same period 2007.
Meanwhile, shirts category showed a year-on-year climb of around 10 percent and 9 percent over June 2008.
Vietnamese General Department of Customs recently released total textile and garment exports statistics in July and the first seven months 2008.
Accordingly, the exports turnover in July recorded $932 million, marking a year-on-year growth of 21.94 percent.
During January–July 2008 period, the exports stood at $5.094 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.74 percent and accounting for 54 percent of total target of 2008.
