Dec '08
On Monday, December 29, PTA, MEG prices moved lower, semi-dull and bright polyester chip prices fell, with smaller trade volumes. Demand and supply of CDP chips showed some balance with stability in price; PET bottle chip price also steadied.

Acrylic staple fibre 1.5D × 38 mm, acrylic top 3D × 102 mm prices were consolidated; CPL price was temporarily stable. Nylon 6-chip price fell.

Trading atmosphere of polyester filament still looked insipidity, purchasing intention from lower reaches was poor with thick bearish sentiment, price slightly dropped.

At present, production and sales of chemical fibre spinning plants was irregular, although stock pressure of polyester filament was not huge, bearish outlook of market future increased. Therefore, polyester filament market is expected to follow a slight downward trend.

Overall cotton yarn market was more stable. Cotton yarn 32s and 40s still had demand that are mainly used in production of nylon and cotton fabrics made on air-jet looms; sales of polyester yarn 32s and 45s were fair, and current prices were relatively stable.

Market of viscose yarn, polyester-cotton blended yarn, and other mixed yarn had little changes. Rayon yarn 30s and 40s prices slightly fell.

Viscose staple fibre price declined to an average market level at 11,500 yuan per ton. It is expected that man-made fibre yarn market will mainly move lower amidst consolidation.
