The Chinese textile and garment industry export powerhouse has despite all the tribulations, been able to close 2008 with positive figures; though albeit lower than those achieved in 2007.

Out of the above figure, textile exports amounted to $65.375 billion, representing a growth rate of 16.60 percent, 1.6 percent higher than the growth of the previous year, while apparel exports could manage growth rate of only 4.10 percent in reaching $119.79 billion, down 16.80 percent vis-à-vis 2007.
