In the month of November last year, the export value of Vietnamese textile and garment products to Canada touched the mark of US $12.6 million, up 13 percent over October and 17 percent year-on-year.
During the period from January to November, Vietnam earned $155.4 million by exporting textile and garment products, representing a year-on-year growth of 29 percent.
With this export value, Canada became the sixth largest export market of Vietnamese textile and garment industry after US, EU, Japan, Taiwan and ASEAN countries.
Elastic shirt topped the chart of high export value with $39.14 million, up 43.5 percent in value over 2007, representing 25.18 percent of the total export value to this market. Jacket and trousers came next with $28.69 million, and $23.7 million respectively. Even products like coat, shorts, shirt and skirt exported to Canada, gained good growth rate during this period.
In an overview, Vietnam's textile and garment products achieved good export growth rate to Canada meanwhile the export to key markets like US, EU, Japan, and Taiwan slowly increased or even decreased. This is an encouraging sign to the export activities in the first months of 2009.
