Along with ascend in prices of a number of petrochemicals; Propylene has also witnessed a growth in the last few weeks. A renewed demand and with most of the petrochemical plants still operating at lower capacities, has led to this upside in prices of Propylene.

The return of the downstream manufacturers after the spring holidays is also partly responsible for the rebound in demand and resultant increase in prices across the globe.

In the Far East region, Propylene, FOB South Korea was quoted at US $715-717 per ton, compared to $641-646 per ton on February 5. In the European region, prices of Propylene (polymerization level), FD Northwest Europe as well as CIF Northwest Europe, remained constant at the last week levels of Euro 411-421 per metric ton and 401-411 per metric ton, respectively.

Not to be left behind, Propylene prices quoted in the US also increased along with those in Asia and Europe, when compared with those on February 5. Propylene (refining level), FAS Houston, quotes ranged from US cent 24.13-24.25 per lb vis-à-vis US cent 23.63-23.88 per lb, quoted on Feb 5.
