Chairman of Weiqiao Chuangye Group, Mr Zhang Shi Ping made a solemn commitment before the Chinese New Year, that the group will not lay off even one worker from the 160,000 workers that it employs and in addition it will recruit 50,000 new employees after the Chinese New Year.
As promised by the Chairman, the recruitment drive started from January 31 onwards. The group has recruited on an average 400-500 workers daily and even 1,000 workers in a single day. The training period will extend from 1-3 months for the new recruits and will be paid 1300-2000 Yuan on an average depending on the skills.
Weiqiao Chuangye Group is a conglomerate of many companies and other than being the largest cotton textile company in the world, has the largest number of employees on its rolls compared to any other global textile company and achieved a turnover of 75.6 billion Yuan in 2008, a growth of 13.7 percent over the previous year.
Since September last year, export orders received by the enterprise have sharply declined due to the impact of the international financial crisis. To face the crisis head on, the group has promptly adjusted its business strategy and vigorously developed domestic markets, while at the same time is on the lookout for new export destinations.
The group is in the process of raising more than one billion Yuan through self-financing in the first half of this year to invest in a new fabric processing plant to dye and print large width fabrics and the project when completed is expected to create 30,000 new jobs for workers.
