Hohenstein Institute, one of the world's leading textile research and testing laboratories, has established Hohenstein Institute America, Inc. in response to its rapidly growing U.S. customer base. Hohenstein America offices will be located in Elon, North Carolina and will provide in-country support to U.S. textile products manufacturers, sourcers, and retailers.

“Establishing Hohenstein America is an investment in our commitment to our U.S. customers,” says Hohenstein Institute director, Dr. Stefan Mecheels. “The U.S. market drives the global textile industry. Establishing the U.S. office is a natural extension of our worldwide network. Hohenstein America will provide U.S. companies with personal service and easy access to Hohenstein's full range of product development, testing and certification services.”

Hohenstein America will be led by Samuel B. Moore, a global textile industry veteran. Moore will be responsible for advancing partnerships with U.S. companies to ensure that their textile products meet performance, quality, and safety expectations. “As consumers demand more and more from their textile products, a differentiated technical sales story becomes even more critical for success in a competitive marketplace,” says Moore.

“At Hohenstein America, we won't just prescribe a test. We will work to understand each customer's desired outcome, develop the best test plan, and then execute it with the customer and the customer's supply chain in a straightforward and cost-effective manner. Everything we do will result in higher product quality and end user satisfaction.”

Hohenstein Institute offers state-of-the-art product development and testing for textile products such as clothing, home textiles, upholstery, protective apparel and equipment, and medical textiles. They provide materials testing and certification for textile safety, UV protection, antimicrobial effectiveness, FR performance, and many other technical features.

Comparative and competitive product testing services are also available. As a founding member of the International Oeko-Tex Association, Hohenstein is a leading provider of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, the international standard for safe textiles, and is certified by the Consumer Products Safety Commission as a third-party, independent laboratory for CPSIA compliance verification.
