The Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industries Board (KSKVIB), Village Industries Commission and the District Industrial Centre are jointly organizing a nine-day exhibition cum sale of khadi products at the Bharitya Vidhya Bhavan premises.
The objective of the expo is to promote khadi among the local populace as well as make it available to them at concessional rates. A discount of 35 percent would be offered on cotton khadi and 25 percent on silk blended khadi.
Khadi products from across the districts of Karnataka like Dharwad, Bangalore, Belgaum, etc will be displayed at the fair along with silk products from other states like West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.
Khadi cloth is woven on handlooms, mostly by weaver's cooperatives, again mostly from rural areas and this expo would enable the weavers to interact directly with the end consumers and also get remunerative prices in the process.
