The Premier of Ukraine, Ms Yulia Tymoshenko disclosed that the Government, at its next sitting, will consider changes to the current tax legislation that are to abolish additional 13 percent of customs duty on goods imported into Ukraine.

According to Ms Yulia Tymoshenko, by the end of week this draft law will be forwarded to the legislature. She explained by saying that additional customs duty on imported goods doesn't comply with commitments made to the WTO.

She also believes that unless Ukraine abolishes the import duty, other countries can impose export limits on Ukrainian goods, which may lead to doors also closing on goods exported from Ukraine.

From amongst the many goods on which 13 percent import duty will be lifted are carpets, knitted fabric, clothes, linen, footwear and hats. She said a number of countries had voiced their opinion and dissatisfaction on the additional import duty.
