Cotton seed sowing in full swing

During the sowing season which started from May 1, sowing of cotton crop would be done in the area of 700,000 acres in Bahawalpur.

Executive district officer agriculture, Bahawalpur said that the sowing operations would complete on June 7, while the best sowing time is till May 20 only. He advised the farmers to sow only 16 recognized seeds of cotton crop during this sowing season.

Some remedial measures are being considered by the government on the recommendation of stakeholders to deal with the problems and issues faced by the textile industry for production and export improvement.

In this regard, advisor to textile ministry, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said that the textile policy is nearly ready and would be announced in the month of June. Before finalizing the policy, the textile ministry has consulted all the stake holders of the sector.

Among the many recommendations received by the textile ministry are zero rating on textile machine imports, zero rating exports, tariff reduction and continuous energy supply to textile units, informed Dr. Mirza.
