Mitsubishi Chemicals had announced a few months ago to consolidate their petrochemical operations, particularly, ethylene production capacities at the Mizushima Industrial complex in Okayama.
It was recently reported that, Mitsubishi Chemical and Asahi Kasei are planning to set up a partnership to jointly operate cracker facilities of both the companies located in the industrial complex.
To learn more about the agreement, Fibre2fashion spoke exclusively to Mr Takuya Yorozu, working in the Public Relations department of Mitsubishi Chemicals, who refused to comment on the joint venture.
But, he said, that, “We announced about possibilities of consolidating production facilities to rebuild petrochemical complexes through partnership last December,
and are now studying various possibilities”.
Mitsubishi operates a 450,000 tons per annum cracker at Mizushima and a 851,000 tons per year cracker at Kashima and Asahi Kasei has a ethylene output of 440,000 tons per annum at Mizushima.
