The Rabobank Foundation has announced a grant of Rs 10 million to support the Agriculture and Farming Group (AOFG), India over the next three years.

This funding is in recognisation of its work with Zameen Organic, a company owned by farmers. AOFG is a network of like minded farmer associations and other community organisations.

AOGF helped in setting up Zameen Organic in 2006 to help marginal farmer's access markets. AOGF provides organizational help to these cotton farmers and also provides technical help in organic farming.

Zameen also partners with textile and apparel companies in the supply chain network, which helps it to provide greater value to its member farmers.

Funding from Rabobank Foundation will be invested in strengthening farming institutions as well as in building capacity and also go towards organic and fair-trade certification costs.

Carrying an organic or fair-trade certificate means adding more value to the cotton and thereby generates better returns for the farmers.
