India Carpet Expo: Largest extravaganza of floor coverings
Aug '09
A four-day India Carpet Expo will begin from October 3 at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University Grounds in Varanasi. The Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) will hold this Expo under the aegis of the Government of India.

Citing this expo as the largest extravaganza of handmade carpets, rugs and floor coverings, CEPC Chairman Mr. Ashok Jain and Convener of expo sub-committee Mr. Siddhnath Singh said that despite the current economic situation, a large number of foreign buyers will participate in the expo.

About 100 foreign buyers from various countries have already registered themselves for the expo, where more than 200 manufacturers and exporters from Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Jaipur, Panipat and Kashmir would take part with their antique, modern, contemporary and classical products.

Creating a platform, providing all varieties of floor coverings at a single place to the foreign carpet buyers is the key purpose behind the organization of this fair, informed the officials. The expo will act as a life-support for the cottage-based and employment-oriented carpet industry during the ongoing declining trend, they added.
