FabricLink and GlobalTex will sponsor a timely panel topic for the upcoming GlobalTex Show, “Fashion Under Stress---How Product Development Needs to Adjust”. This fall's discussion will address the issues of a strained economy and changing consumer opinions, and how these affect textile and fashion innovation, creativity and recalibrating the bottom line.

Sponsored by the FabricLink Network and GlobalTex:
Date: GlobalTex Show, Tuesday, October 13, 2009
From 11:00 am to 12:00 noon in the L.A. Convention Center, Seminar Suite, South Hall, Hall G

Panel Discussion Summary:
We welcome you to attend this Fashion Industry Panel, which will bring together leaders in the Fashion Textile & Apparel supply chain to openly share and develop answers to tough industry-wide challenges and emerging consumer attitudes. Panelists will include respected representatives from the following supply chain segments:

• Fiber/Yarn – Jack Tasso, President, TSR Yarns
• Fabric – Richard Yuster, Account Executive, Pacific Coast Knitting
• Manufacturing – TBA (I am waiting to hear back from American Apparel.)
• Retail – Sandy Richmond, President, Directives West
• Moderator – Kathlyn Swantko, President, FabricLink Network

According to a recent article in the Los Angeles Times, Booth Moore, the L.A. Times Fashion Critic, stated, “The $300-billion fashion business is in the midst of an epic shake-up that is changing the way clothes are designed, marketed, and purchased. In turn, many retail businesses, confronted by changing spending patterns, are becoming less brand-centric and more consumer-centric.”

This Panel will address this issue from the point of view of various members of the supply chain, all of whom will be impacted during the reshaping of this market. Whether you are a business owner, executive, designer, or work in research & development, this Panel discussion will benefit you in the following ways:

• Hear comments/suggestions from the supply chain.
• How is the economy affecting the fashion industry and it's suppliers?
• How has the product development process been impacted by changing consumer attitudes?
• What can be done to keep your sales from falling?

Over the past six years, the FabricLink Network has presented a dozen similar Industry Panels for the specialty outdoor retail market. These events were a must-see event at the Outdoor Retailer Show, where show attendees often had standing room only space. Now, FabricLink is taking its expertise in organizing these product development focused Panels into the fashion market.

Kathlyn Swantko, founder of the FabricLink Network, started the Industry Panels because she saw a real need to get the supply chain together to talk and network. Swantko stated, “The Industry Panels provide a unique opportunity for the entire textile/apparel supply chain to discuss its challenges and problems. These events give attendees the rare opportunity to hear from industry leaders, who share their vision and insight in a fast moving format. There's also time to ask questions of the Panel. Everyone benefits from the experience!”

Join this important, timely discussion and let FabricLink's Industry Panel event make a difference during your week at GlobalTex. Have your questions answered and plan your strategy!
