Eastman Chemical Company filed a lawsuit against Indorama companies located in the United States, Europe, and Thailand in connection with their unauthorized use of IntegRex PET manufacturing technology. Eastman developed the innovative IntegRex technology for the production of PET, and has protected this technology with a robust patent portfolio. Eastman will vigorously defend these intellectual property assets.

Eastman filed its complaint in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. The complaint alleges patent infringement, breach of contract, and trade secret misappropriation. The patent infringement claims relate to three Eastman patents that encompass PET manufacturing technology. The breach of contract and trade secret claims arise from Indorama's unauthorized disclosure and use of information covered by a license agreement between Eastman and several European Indorama entities.

Eastman's chemicals, fibers and plastics are used as key ingredients in products that people use every day. Approximately 10,000 Eastman employees around the world blend technical expertise and innovation to deliver practical solutions. The company is committed to finding sustainable business opportunities within the diverse markets it serves. A global company headquartered in Kingsport, Tenn., USA, Eastman had 2008 sales of $6.7 billion.
