Indo–US collaborative international symposium by TecniTex

According to Mr. Mallyah, organizer and executive director of TecniTex Nonwovens Pvt Ltd., “Even though, there are only few investments in India for nonwoven roll good manufacturing of Spunlace and Spunbond fabrics. Adequate converters or converting clusters are missing to consume these fabrics. Hence these manufacturers are heavily depending up on exports. We want this platform to be a useful forum for the Indian textile and allied sectors and young and new entrepreneurs for getting into converting technical textile products business. India needs aggressive investments in value added technical textile sector”.

The technology session of this symposium will be led by Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar, Associate Professor and Manager of the Nonwovens & Advanced Materials Laboratory, Texas Tech University, USA. Leading industry representatives in the field of specialty fibres and fabrics such as Aegis Environmental, Ginni Filaments, Schill & Seilacher, Alpha Foam, Reliance and Ahlstrom among others will present industry relevant papers which will be useful for entrepreneurs and participants.

Dr. Ramkumar commented that the report by Ian Butler, Director of Market Analysis and Statistics of INDA, USA and Jeff Rasmussen of IFAI, USA will be very valuable take home messages for the India's textile and allied industries. According to him, “the aim of this focused conference is to shift the cotton based India's textile industry to a value added industry which can cater to both domestic and international markets.”Ramkumar further added that according to IFAI, USA, the contribution and consumption of specialty fabrics in developed economies such as USA and Europe is 20% and in India it is only 4%.” Ramkumar opines that India should at least reach the level of China's specialty fabrics industry which is 13%.

TecniTex Nonwovens Pvt. Ltd., is committed to enhance the value of India's textile industry and will work with all stake holders to enhance the contribution of India's technical textiles industry to be at least 10%.

The two day event will take place in the Textiles Committee Auditorium, Prabhadevi, Mumbai, and will commence with an inauguration.
