The Cotton Crop Assessment Committee (CCAC) projected this year's cotton crop size at 12.7 million bales as against the previous estimate of 12.1 million bales on the basis of feedback received from agriculture department and various stake holders.

The projected province-wise cotton crop output is Punjab 8.40 million bales, Sindh 4.20 million bales, Balochistan and NWFP 0.1 million bales. CCAC also noted that cotton arrivals as on January 1 were higher by 22.44 percent as compared to the same period last year.

In a meeting held in April 2009, the Federal Committee on Agriculture fixed the cotton area and production targets for 2009-10 at 3.20 million hectares and 13.36 million bales, respectively, which was later revised to 12.1 million bales on October 12.
