Hebei Province records low cotton output

According to a survey conducted by National Bureau of Statistics, the actual acreage of cotton in Hebei province was 9.30 million mu in 2009(One hectare =15 Chinese Mu), representing a decrease of 1.05 million mu, or 10.14 percent year on year.
Really measured yield was 65.01 kilograms per mu, down 6.23 kilograms or 8.7 percent year on year. Total cotton output of the province was 604,600 tons, down 132,700 tons or 18 percent year on year.
Cotton output which had recorded growth in the three previous consecutive years fell substantially in 2009 in Hebei province, due to a drastic reduction in acreage by more than 10 percent.
