KVIC to speedily implement schemes for KVI sector, Mr Patel

Summing up the discussions in the meeting, Shri Dinesh Rai, Secretary (MSME) asked KVIC to adequately publicize and disseminate the procedures and requirements of the new scheme for Market Development Assistance (MDA) based on production in Khadi to all the institutions. He advised that the selection of the institutions for Khadi Reform Programme with Asian Development Bank assistance should be done carefully and transparently. This programme expects professional management and self reliance on the part of the assisted institutions. He also emphasised on the need for speeding up the progress of actual utilisation of the subsidy under Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and faster delivery of the subsidy to the beneficiary's account by the financing branches of banks.
The Secretary (MSME) referred to the need for KVIC to increase its training and skill development efforts and also utilise the scheme of assistance to training institutions of the Ministry. He exhorted the bank to help improve the working capital requirement of the Khadi institutions and referred to recommendations of the Task Force on MSME for enhancing the credit flow to the sector.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of MSME, experts and senior functionaries from Khadi and Village Industries sector, State Governments, Banking, Marketing and public representatives. Views and suggestions were sought from the Members on ways to further improve the effectiveness, the efficiency, the productivity and the delivery of the schemes in the KVI sector. The meeting ended with a reaffirmation to further strengthen and support the KVI sector so that the ultimate aim of the programmes for benefitting the artisans, spinners and weavers to generate gainful employment and promote the traditional industries is achieved.
