As the workers while protesting with their demands for wage hike, bonus and regularization observed a strike on July 15, 2010, around 10,000 power loom units in Narsingdi were compelled to shut operations for the day.

Demonstrators baying for a 13-point demand marched all through the lanes of Narsingdi. They paraded in the district town transversely from Tarowa to Shapla Chhattar.

The protest concluded with a small meet, which was addressed by the President of Narsingdi Textile Workers' Federation, Abdur Rahman.

The speakers advised the textile mill owners to grant their demands, and intimidated that if this is not done they might carry out an indefinite strike.

Then again, President of Narsingdi Power Loom Owners Association, AK Fazlul Hoque, commented that, the power loom owners were incurring losses on account of mounting yarn prices.

He contended that a vested lot prompted the workers to go on with the strike. He has also urged the workers to end the strike at once, so that their demands could be settled through a dialogue with the mill owners.
