A massive shut down of 70,000 power-loom units in three major industrial sectors has been announced by power-loom factory owners following violence, protests and attacks on factories. The Council of Loom Owners, Faisalabad has decided to close factories in three major industrial areas, Sadhar Jhang Road, Faizabad and Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Few evil elements are threatening factories and troubling industrialists under the disguise of protesters, due to which investors are scared to run their factories, informed Chairman of the council, Waheed Ramay.

Despite closure of 70,000 power-loom units, meetings are currently being conducted to stage a complete strike, in case city administration fails to safeguard the industrial units and their owners. On the other hand, labourers have threatened to continue demonstrations till their wages are increased.

As per Mian Abdul Qayyum, Chairman Labour Qaumi Movement, government had issued formal notifications for security, but the city administration of Faisalabad couldn't execute these orders.
