For its 29th anniversary Munich Fabric Start convinced visitors with a new corporate identity, however not only undergoing complete restyling in terms of looks. The new services rendered such as the ECO Village as an information platform for sustainability, the further expansion of showrooms where full-package services could be found as well as the re-organisation of the Denim Area Blue Zone in Hall 5 with 60 denim weaving mills, finishers and laundries went down very well with visitors and received praise across the board.

Summary of New Projects and Exhibitors' Feedback:
ECO Village: A resounding success. Featured for the first time was a Service Center where trade visitors could talk direct with important certification bodies and non-profit organisations that promote sustainability and eco awareness in industry and retail. Acknowledged enterprises and organisations such as the Institute for Market Ecology IMO, the Fair Wear Foundation, Organic Exchange and bluesign technologies AG said they were extremely satisfied with the results and contacts made. Both retailers and industry sought intense, peer-to-peer conversations over all three days of the trade fair.

Doraliz Aranda, Organic Exchange (USA): “Organic Exchange attempts to provide information on the benefits of growing organic cotton. Presenting ourselves at the Eco Village has helped us share our concept with trade visitors and trigger their enthusiasm. Many visitors initially came out of curiosity to understand what this is all about. For many of them this was the “first encounter” with the sustainability theme giving them the chance to gather introductory information. On the other hand, we also had branded product producers of various types and sizes call on us such as Marc O'Polo, Michalsky or even textiles firms like Teijin. The ECO Village was a great platform serving to enthuse the sector.”

Sebastian Baumgartner, bluesign technologies AG (CH):“Pooling organisations in the ECO Village was and still is a good idea. This allowed us to consult visitors individually to address their specific concerns. And the quiet atmosphere went down well. Moreover, we were also able to exchange ideas with each other.”
