The trade registered active demand from spinners´ side during the week under report. Of interest were medium staple as well as fine-/extra fine quantities available at short term till end if the year 2010, but also for later dates.

Further on the offers are extremely scarce and cotton is correspondingly dear. The cotton quotations at the New York futures market had strongly gone up in the reporting period. Also the Cotlook A Index (Far East) soared by nearly 400 points.

In the Upland range the conclusion of contracts was reported in smaller quantities of Central Asian sorts for prompt and for the 4th quarter 2010, and from the new crop for the 1st through 3rd quarter 2011; Syrian types for prompt; Spanish descriptions or dates in the 4th quarter 2010, as well as West African styles for dates in the 4th quarter 2010 and in the 1st quarter 2011.

In the fine / extra fine range turnovers were registered in Egyptian GIZA 86, 70, and 88 for prompt and further through the end of the year 2010; Israel Acalpi for the same period of time and US-Pima for prompt.
