India's first silk park is being set up near Amravati, three kms from Badnera. But then, there are some obstacles coming in way of this park as the Maharashtra Government's Sericulture Directorate (SD,) is not being able to get hold of any industrialist ready to invest in the park.
The park coming up on an 18 acre plot at an estimated cost of Rs six crores, is scheduled for completion in three stages by 2012. The Central Silk Board (CBC) is funding the establishment of this park, which is already through with its first stage.
But as far as the second 'silk to fabric' stage is concerned, the park authorities have not been able to attract investors in to the stage, which is also impeding the project from progressing to the third 'fabric to garments' stage.
