Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has constituted a Cotton Yarn Advisory Board (CYAB) to advise the Government on matters pertaining to production, consumption and availability of different types of cotton yarn and also provide a forum for liaison between all the stakeholders i.e. spinners, weavers, TRA's, Government and to prepare a Cotton Yarn Balance Sheet etc. The composition and Terms of Reference of the Board along with members list is enclosed.
• The Board will advise the Government on matters pertaining to production, consumption and availability of different types of cotton yarn and also provide a forum for, liaison between stakeholders i.e. spinners, weavers, TRNs Government etc.
• The Board will monitor the domestic and international prices of cotton yarn and suggest measures for increasing the availability of cotton yarn at reasonable prices for domestic consumption.
• The Board will monitor the import and export, of cotton yarn and prepare the Cotton Yarn balance Sheet.
• The Board will ordinarily meet once in a quarter or as often as necessary.
• The members of the Boards will serve on the Board upto 31st March, 2012 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
• T.A./D.A., if any, in respect of Government officials and the Textile-Research Association officials shall be borne by their respective Departments .and organizations respectively. In respect of other members TA. /D.A. shall be borne by the organizations, which the members represent.
• Secretariat assistance will be provided by the Office 'of the Textile Commissioner, Mumbai
Tirupur Exporters' Association - popularly known as TEA -was established in July 1990. This association is especially for Cotton Knitwear Exporters who have State of the Art production facilities in Tirupur, the Knit City. The City has registered a consistent growth of around 30% for every consecutive year since 1988.
