The Dynasty Group has ceased the operation of its three mills located at the Ashulia industrial zone for an indefinite time after the workers resorted to violent behavior over the issue of raising the wage rate per piece of sweater.
About 4,500 workers employed in the mills of Awokpara went into demonstration, over their demands and sabotaged the mills, before involving into conflicts with the police force and attacking the factory authorities. This further impeded the production.
The Group has closed its three factories – the Millennium Sweater, the Dynasty Sweater and the Dynasty Knit Fashion, for an uncertain period owing to the apprehensions of extensive damage to the factory property as well as large-scale demonstration.
The workers showed their concern over the stand taken by the management, fearing that the condition might deteriorate further if the production process in all the three factories is not started immediately. The workers further pointed out that the company owners did not take the necessary measures to raise the wage rate in spite of their frequent assertions over the issue.
