Clariant workshop on Continuous Processing of Textiles

The Textile Chemicals Business of India's leading specialty chemicals producer – Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd. organized a Workshop on “Continuous Processing of Textiles” on September 28, 2010 at Coimbatore.

Mr. S. Sivaram, S. S. Consultancy, who was the chief guest, detailed on the status of the Continuous Processing Industry and also referred to the solutions and the new technology available for continuous processing.

Mr. Madhav Nair, Head – Competence Centre Chemicals, Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd, presented on the Clariant approach for Continuous Pretreatment. He explained the advantages and the drawback of continuous processing, designing a desizing recipe, size and size adhesives and their identification, alkaline scouring or scour boiling, bleaching and combined scour bleach, and the product range for the continuous bleaching range.

Mr. S. Arunagiri, Consultant from Erbatech presented on the machines for the continuous knits processing. Mr. S. Rajendran, V.P. - ATE explained the different new technologies and machinery which can be used for the continuous dyeing methods. Mr. Sanjay Sathe, Head – Competence Centre Dyes, Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd. presented on the options for the continuous dyeing methods like:

(1) Pad batch process,
(2) Pad moist process,
(3) Pad wet steam process,
(4) Pad Dry Chemical Pad Steam process,
(5) Pad Dry Thermofix process.

In the session on Finishing, Mr. Raj Varghese, GM – Finishing, presented on the different types of finishing and the solutions and product range offers by the Clariant. Mr. Jaichandran, from Raaga Tex, in his presentation detailed about the finishing machinery.

Mr. Anjani Prasad, Country Head – Textiles Chemicals Business, Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd, explained that Clariant's focus continues to remain on consumer safety, on efficient use of resources and processes and on environment. He elaborated on Clariant's product safety processes for textiles, which also included the declaration of safe product certifications. He also detailed on the 4E concepts of Ecology (GOTS approved, Oeko-tex approved, Bluesign approved); Economy (Less water, Less time, Less energy); Efficiency (Right at the First time, Reproducibility, Performance, Higher build up) and Environment (Biodegradability, Bioelimination, fewer chemicals used and less efficient load).

He emphasized: “We can employ methods and processes that can save water, energy and time – which automatically results in savings not only for the manufacturer but also the end customer”.
