Laxtons Specialist Yarns, a wool textile firm based at Guiseley, has brought manufacturing back to West Yorkshire from different locations in Europe, generating several manufacturing jobs. The family-run business is about to launch its first-ever commercial wool worsted manufacturing plant in UK.
The firm houses 12 machines with latest modern spinning technology. The Yorkshire Bank's West Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre in Bradford has offered the financial support to the company for making the investment.
This new establishment has helped the firm to bring its production back from the countries like Italy, Spain and France. The company, having 14 employees, has a turnover in multi-million pounds. It is the only firm that can produce bespoke fancy yarns and is one of the two remaining British-owned specialist yarn producers.
It also produces yarn for machine knitting, upholstery fabric manufacturing and woven apparel. The Italian-designed machine specialist in yarn-production installed by the firm is first of its kind in UK and is one of the world's few machines, which permits to combine three spinning technologies to manufacture yarns with more complicated variable patterns.
