The various associations of Punjab have taken a decision to initiate a series of protests to oppose
the gas shedding schedule announced for industries for four days.
The first among the series is likely to be held at Shahdra, today.
The protest rally is expected to begin from Zeno Textile Mills and is likely to continue further where many entrepreneurs as well as workers are anticipated to take part in the protest.
The protest rally will be led by leaders of PIAF, the chairman of the Processing Association – Maqsood Ahmad Butt, and the former president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Mian Anjum Nisar
Anjum Nisar severely criticized the erroneous policies of the Pakistani Government, which forced the industry to reach the brink of disaster, while speaking to the organizing committee of the protest rally.
He pointed out that the workers employed in the industry were under the risk of losing their jobs as result of the unavailability of gas. The government has also not taken any measure in this direction.
Most of the industrial clusters were desolate since manufacturing in several industrial units had come to a standstill.
