Life cycle costs are relevant
The efficiency of machine vision is applicable to a broad range of areas: Faulty products are weeded out as soon as possible, contributing towards the elimination of any unnecessary follow-up costs. Also with materials, machine vision prevents any waste. The efficient 100-percent inspection is now offered as standard and avoids any costly complaints or even recalls. When assessing the efficiency of an investment, users are therefore increasingly looking at the costs and benefits over the entire life cycle. In such analyses, the life cycle costs or “Total Cost of Ownership” (TCO) are transparent, taking into account low downtimes, steady processes and the increased efficiency of resources.
Machine vision driving innovation: from the quality of the product to quality of life
Machine vision is increasingly being used in applications outside of the factory. Improved quality, greater reliability, more security and efficiency are properties are just as much in demand in the non-industrial fields as they are in the industrial ones. The machine vision spectrum spans from operation training without any risk to the patient to the reduction of pesticide in precision farming to automated waste separation.
VISION 2010
According to VDMA Machine Vision, conceptual supporter of VISION, the forecast for 2010 is also a positive one for the leading international trade fair. VDMA will be represented at the trade fair and is organising the three-day "Industrial VISION Days", a programme of events offering the visitor an insight into the wide spectrum of technologies and applications offered by machine vision. With 44 speakers from 12 nations, the "Industrial VISION Days 2009" was the leading international machine vision forum. More than 2,500 visitors are expected to attend this year.
