A two-year long project, "Development & Export Promotion of Brunei Handicraft Products,” had been started way back in 2008. The project targeted at assisting and supporting the future development and export promotion of handicraft items from Brunei.
As a follow-up to this programme, MIPR and JETRO from Japan, holding expertise in textile and fashion products, recently paid a visit to Brunei, so as to promote the handicraft firms which are intending to export their products to the foreign markets.
They got in direct touch with the firms in Brunei and provided the necessary training with regard to the transfer of skill and design, and also recommended them on more value addition to their products.
They organized a concluding meeting with the Brunei-based firms on "Competitiveness and Marketability". The experts even advised these firms to put sustainable efforts so as to expand their reach in the global market while boosting the competitiveness of their products there.
