In 2010, ComexPeru – the Foreign Trade Society of Peru revealed that the US had imported textile products worth $688 million from Peru, registering a rise of 14 percent as against the import figure of 2009.
It is surprising to note that the most dynamic exports to the US were not the basic but the non-conventional items, which recorded an increase of 27 percent.
In 2010, Peruvian products worth $5.7 billion were exported to the US, which is 19 percent more than the figure recorded in 2009.
According to the report of ComexPeru, following the stabilization of the US economy, the trade and commerce taking place between Peru and the United States have recovered to a great extent.
