The Federation of Gujarat Weavers Association (FOGWA) has appealed to its members to resume the supply of grey fabric directly to various fabric processing units as well as offer the finished goods for sale in the market, as the confrontation between the weavers and the textile traders still persists.
Grey fabric is a semi-finished product, which is sent for dyeing and printing to the fabric processing units. Once the fabric is dyed and printed, it is finally sent to the market for sale. Earlier, textile traders used to undertake diverse activities of either sending the fabric for processing or selling the printed fabrics.
FOGWA has taken the resolution to wipe out the domination of textile traders in the business. The clash that is going on between the weavers and the textile traders has further aggravated after the textile traders denied to work according to the new terms of payment.
As per the new terms and conditions demanded by the FOGWA, the textile traders are required to clear the net payment within seven days of receiving the materials and also pay the delivery charges.
The issue has reached an impasse now, as the weavers still continue to remain resolute on their demands and are completely denying to work as per the terms of old pay structure.
