Sudanese farmers to sow cotton on 600,000 acres

Mohamed Osman Al-Suba'I, Chairman of the Cotton Council indicated that, more than cotton sowing will be undertaken on more than 600,000 acres in the next cotton season.
Out of this, 500,000 acres is in rain-fed areas, while the rest have access to water irrigation facilities, he said.
The Cotton Council also discussed various issue like providing cotton seeds, funds and crop insurance to farmers.
He also said that foreign companies have also expressed about investing in around 250,000 acres of cotton cultivation.
