The British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) announced the results of their recent elections this week and re-appointed Hugh Blythe as the member of the Board for the Scottish Southern Region with immediate effect.
Mr Blythe who farms at Maybole, Ayrshire, runs 700 Mules and has been involved in the sheep industry on large and small, hill and lowland farmers for all of his working life.
He has been on the Board of the BWMB since 2007 representing Scottish Southern and during this time, he has acquired a broad understanding of the way that the Board operates, both in terms of serving the producer and also on the commercial side, in working with the textile industry.
“I am very pleased to have been re-elected as a Board Member and intend to continue with the work I have done and ensure that the BWMB is the best organisation that it can be and so earn the highest possible returns for the producers. The market for wool is strong at the moment and we should strive to take every opportunity to promote while there is so much interest. The Campaign for Wool is a superb vehicle to do that and the Board is actively working on that to ensure the demand for British Wool continues to grow.”
