China's gray silk fabric export volumes down

China's exports of gray silk fabrics were a big disappointment for the first two months of this year registering a volume decline of 18.29 percent on year to year basis. On the others hand prices continued upward trend. China's top five export markets of gray silk fabrics were Italy, India, Pakistan, South Korea and Japan during this period.
According to China Customs data for the months of January and February, China exported gray silk fabrics worth US $95.09 million registering a growth rate of 13.93 percent. In terms of average unit price, it witnessed 39.43 percent growth with an average unit price of US $ 4.08 / meter.
But in terms of quantity, it disappointed with a 18.29 percent decline. It exported 23.33 million meters of gray silk fabrics. In China's total export earnings of silk goods, gray silk fabrics accounted for 16.71 percent.
In the period, China's exports to Italy stood at 6.14 million meters, up 1.1 percent year on year to year basis. Its exports were valued at US $26.26 million, 38.5 percent higher while average unit price was 36.99 percent up at US $ 4.28 / meter on year to year basis. In China's total export volume of gray silk fabrics, Italy's share was 26.32 percent. It was 27.62 percent in total export value.
China exported 4.32 million meters of gray silk fabric to India. It dropped significantly by 44.01 percent. China's exports earning from India in this segment too declined by 17.21 percent and total export earnings stood at US $17.39 million. Though the average unit price was US $ 4.03 / meter, 47.87 percent higher compared to the previous year.
Actually, China got the highest increase in price from India among the major five markets. Exports to India accounted 18.51 percent of total export volume and 18.29 percent of total export earnings.
China's exports to Pakistan were 4.15 million meters, 9.03 percent down compared to the previous year. In terms of earnings, it stood at US $12.62 million, recording an increase of 18.92 percent year on year.
China got the lowest average unit price of US $ 3.04 / meter among major markets from Pakistan. It was increased by 30.73 percent. Chine's exports to Pakistan, accounted for 17.8 percent in total export volume and 13.27 percent in total export value for this segment.

China got the lowest average unit price of US $ 3.04 / meter among major markets from Pakistan. It was increased by 30.73 percent. Chine's exports to Pakistan, accounted for 17.8 percent in total export volume and 13.27 percent in total export value for this segment.
