The Orissa government has decided to allow a 10 percent subsidy on khadi items during the festive seasons.

As per the government decision, the customers would be allowed a total 30 percent rebate on prices of khadi goods by the State government, which would include the 20 percent subsidy already allowed by the Central Khadi Commission.

The State government also intends to provide necessary support for qualitative enhancement of the 'charkhas' that the spinners in Khadi Societies use. This will facilitate enhanced production of better quality khadi yarn, and would also boost the earning prospects of the workers.

Further, the State government delegated the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) with the responsibility of researching and suggesting ways for better marketing of khadi products and their designs. It would benefit the Societies functioning under the State Khadi Board.
